Julie is an intuitive body-based counselor whose practice evolved from many years of teaching and practicing yoga and meditation. She specializes in bridging the wisdom of the mind and the body to help move her clients through blockages and toward the life they want. She is trained in trauma-informed practice, EMDR, addiction, mindfulness, chronic pain, ADHD, Tarot, and energy work, including Reiki. Her counseling practice is generally seated and includes conversation, but we may also imagine, meditate, and feel, inviting the wisdom of the body to teach us what it needs to know. The approach is very flexible, non-judgmental, and client-centered. You can really tell Julie anything.

Julie is the author of several books on wellness and healing through mythology and storytelling. She is a staff writer for Spirituality and Health Magazine and has dozens of meditations and several courses available on the Insight Timer app. Julie aims to be anti-oppressive in her work, which includes awareness of her own position as a white settler in Treaty 6 territory and working to be a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. Julie is also a mother of two young boys.

Areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues (including wanting one you don’t yet have), chronic pain/illness, sexuality, trauma recovery, relationship to spirituality, and many more issues that can speak through the body. Alana completed her masters in osteopathic manipulative sciences (M.OMSc) in 2020 at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy with 4200 hours of supervised education and 1000 hours supervised clinical training. She is a member of OSTCAN Alberta, covered by most extended health benefit plans.

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that uses gentle, hands-on treatment to restore movement and balance in the body’s structure. Osteopathic treatment is relaxing and inhibitory. Without the use of high velocity or aggressive adjustment, treatment appeals to the nervous system, allowing the body to integrate the corrections. Various treatment approaches help to ease pain, reduce swelling, reduce tissue tension, and promote healing. Principle-based techniques such as myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, oscillatory osteoarticular release, strain-counterstrain, craniosacral, and visceral osteopathy are used collectively throughout treatment to reduce or remove restrictions in order to balance asymmetry to restore the body back to normal function. Alana draws upon her in-depth knowledge of anatomy to address the specific health issues of each individual and believes in working with her clients to achieve lasting health changes. Each rendered treatment is specific and unique to each individual.
